Save it, Guard it, Keep it going

Behind every file is someone’s work. Behind every plan is a business moving forward. Discover the message behind our music video and how Backup, EDR and RMM help you save it, guard it and keep it going.

Every working day, people create something that matters. A quotation that could win a new customer. An order that needs to reach its destination. A project that has taken months to build.

Those files, conversations and systems carry the work of a business. When they become unavailable, the impact reaches the people trying to serve customers, meet deadlines and keep their commitments.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, including here in South Africa. It is a useful opportunity to look at how we protect that everyday work and how clearly our people understand their part in it.

That is the message behind Soteria Cloud’s music video, Keep the Heart of Business. We have put three practical ideas into a phrase people can remember:

Save it. Guard it. Keep it going.

Save it: give your work a way back

Backup creates copies of the files and systems you need, so that you have a recovery path when something goes wrong.

That might mean recovering a deleted document, restoring work after a device failure, or recovering from a cyber incident. The important question is whether the copies you have can restore the work your business actually needs.

Start with your priorities. Identify the information and systems that matter most, check that they are included in your backup plan, and test a restore. Agree how much recent work you could afford to lose and how long you could manage without access.

If this work disappeared today, how would we get it back?

Guard it: notice the danger and know who responds

Security gives people and technology a shared role in protecting the business.

For employees, that includes checking unexpected requests, protecting their sign-ins and reporting suspicious activity. For the IT team, it includes having tools that help them see and investigate threats.

Endpoint Detection and Response, or EDR, helps detect suspicious activity on devices such as workstations and servers, investigate what happened and take response actions.

Those capabilities need clear ownership. Someone must be responsible for reviewing incidents, deciding what to do and following through. Make sure your team knows who that person or service provider is.

If a threat appeared today, who would notice and who would act?

Keep it going: care for the systems people depend on

The working day also depends on devices being maintained and supported. A missed update, a struggling workstation or an unresolved system issue can interrupt the work people need to do.

Remote Monitoring and Management, or RMM, helps IT teams monitor device health, manage supported systems remotely and carry out maintenance, including patch management where supported and configured.

This gives the IT team a more organised way to look after devices across offices and remote working environments. It also connects everyday maintenance to the wider protection plan.

Do we know which devices need attention, and who is keeping them ready?

Three capabilities, one connected plan

Each idea serves a different purpose. Backup provides recoverable copies. EDR helps teams detect and respond to endpoint threats. RMM helps them monitor and maintain systems.

Soteria Cloud’s Total Data Protection, powered by Acronis, brings these capabilities together for supported devices in one protection offering. As a trusted Acronis partner and cloud aggregator, we help businesses and MSPs connect those capabilities to the work they need to protect.

The plan should be clear about what is covered, what needs to be recovered first and who owns each action. That clarity matters to the people relying on it.

Make October useful

Use this month to put the message into practice. Test a restore of important work. Confirm who handles security incidents. Review devices that need maintenance or updates.

Alongside those checks, reinforce everyday habits: choose strong, unique passwords and use a password manager; enable multifactor authentication; recognise and report suspicious messages; and keep software updated.

Give people a clear reporting route and encourage them to raise concerns early. A protection plan becomes more useful when everyone understands what to do.

As the song reminds us, behind the files are people, and behind the plans are dreams. Protecting their work helps them keep building, serving and moving forward.

Save it. Guard it. Keep it going. Keep the heart of business flowing.
