What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow a site to function correctly, remember your choices and understand how the site is being used. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage and pixels, which work in comparable ways.

How we use cookies

We keep our use of cookies deliberately limited. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell information collected through them. The categories we use are set out above, and the individual purposes are listed below.

Exact cookie names and lifespans can change when a provider updates its platform. The table describes the purposes we permit rather than a fixed technical inventory.

Third-party cookies

Where analytics are enabled with your consent, they are provided by Google Analytics. That service sets its own cookies and processes data in terms of its own privacy terms. We configure it to limit what is collected, and we do not use it for advertising retargeting.

Some pages may embed third-party content, such as a video or a document viewer. Where that happens, the provider may set its own cookies once the content loads.

Managing your choices

You can control cookies in two ways:

  • On this site — use the consent controls to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Analytics are not loaded unless you consent, and you can change your choice at any time.
  • In your browser — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most offer a private browsing mode. Look under Settings, then Privacy and security.

Blocking essential cookies will affect how parts of the website work, including signing in to the administration area. Blocking analytics or preference cookies has no effect on the content available to you.

Do Not Track

There is no agreed industry standard for responding to browser Do Not Track signals, so we do not respond to them. Our consent controls give you a clearer and more reliable choice.

Essential cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in delivering a secure, working website. All other cookies are set only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Where cookie data amounts to personal information, it is handled in line with our privacy policy, and you may exercise the rights described there, including asking us to delete it through our data deletion instructions.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy periodically and update it when our use of cookies changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
